Which Celebrity Hair Extension Line Is Right for You: Kylie Jenner, Demi Lovato & More!

A new year is a time for new looks,  and some celebrities have found ways for you to change up your hair that channel their iconic styles.
Most recently, reality star Kylie Jenner released her own hair extension line, joining other celebrities like Shahs of Sunset’s Golnessa Gharachedagh, supermodel Christie Brinkley, singer Demi Lovato, and former View host Sheri Shepherd.
So which one of these is the best for your hair? We took these extensions to celebrity hair stylist and co-owner of Cie Sparks Salon, Michael Sparks to find out more about how to put them in and to see which type of hair each one would fit best with.
Here is a breakdown of each extension and what you should know about each one.
Kylie Jenner Kouture By Bellami Hair
Price: $249.99
Type: 100% Remy Human Hair
Best For: Michael recommends these colorful locks for anyone from fine to thicker hair, but he wouldn’t put it on someone with really curly hair.
Tip: To make it blend in more, curl her hair with yours.
Price: $89.99
Type: Synthetic Hair
Best For: Michael recommends it for medium to thick hair only, sorry fined hair ladies!
Tip: Put some beach spray on this one to give you a wavy look.
Christie Brinkley, Hair2Wear
Price: From $10 to $239
Type: Synthetic Hair
Best For: Anyone, but just make sure your hair matches the color.
Tip: To make the pony tail have more of a messy bun look, use both small and large bobby pins.
Demi Lovato, Secret Color
Price: $19.99
Type: Synthetic Hair
Best For: Anyone and works well for Halloween or a fun night out.
Tip: Put your hair half up with a clip to make it easier to put the invisible hairline on.
Sheri Shepherd, LUXHAIR
Price: $23.62
Type: Synthetic Hair
Best For: Straight hair and not for curly hair because it would be two different textures.
Tip: Cut the bangs and thin them out to make them look more natural.
In addition to how to make clip-ins seamlessly work with your look, Michael also touched on how weaves — like the ones from Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Porsha Williams’ Naked line — need to be put in by someone who specializes in braiding hair underneath. Typically, that process requires 2-5 hours as the hair has to be sewn in. “You have to make sure your real hair is non-existent, because that line, that’s going to be your hair,” he says.
So whether you’re deciding on a celebrity endorsed clip-in, headband braid or a weave, Michael leaves us with this parting advice.
“Take your time when it comes to picking your hair,” he advises. “It’s your image. You wear it all the time so just make sure you work with someone who knows what they’re doing, and if you don’t like it, you can always get more hair.”
